Barton Shaw,
MA in Counseling
Following a 20-year career in professional sales, Barton earned his Master of Arts in Counseling through Lincoln Christian University after experiencing the benefits of professional counseling in his own life. He believes that people have within themselves the ability to make positive change, but the lingering effects from difficult life experiences often interfere with growth, progress, and healthy relationships. He is dedicated to helping individuals and couples overcome their emotional and relational challenges to improve their daily lives.
Barton uses an integrative, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach--drawing from several evidence-based counseling theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, and Family Systems Therapy, depending on the individual needs of each client. He is currently training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a member of the American Counseling Association.
During his free time, Barton enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He loves fishing, hunting, and training his labrador retriever.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”—Carl Rogers.
