Jessica McFarland,
MA in Counseling
Jessica comes from a missionary family in India forming and developing a bicultural identity. While she was almost done with high school, her mother encouraged her to pursue a degree in Psychology. During a class in her sophomore year, Jessica learned about Adverse Childhood Experiences. Since that time, she has been led to learn about working with children and parents. Jessica grew up in India and saw people who were struggling with basic needs. This encouraged her to look into physical and emotional safety in children.
Jessica completed her master's from Lincoln Christian University. She is currently training in Attachment-Based Play Therapy and using it with the children she works with, focusing on attachment to the parents and caregivers.
During her free time, Jessica loves art, badminton and just being outside with nature. She loves spending time with her family, friends and church community.
“In relationships, shared vulnerability builds bonds, precisely because it brings attachment needs for a felt sense of connection and comfort to the fore and encourages reaching for others.”
