Kathleen Bush, PhD, LCPC

Dr. Kathleen Bush (Kath) has a passion for helping families and clients of all age groups who are interested in incorporating their spiritual beliefs into their trauma-healing. Kath supports parents and their children, or couples, and individuals in enhancing their capacity for attachment, connection, and healthy relationships and tackles tough stuff, such as childhood trauma.

Approaches

Her approach as a Christian/Catholic counselor revolves around the development of healthy attachment and healing from early/developmental relational trauma. Her training includes Theraplay, Attachment Self-Regulation and Competency, Neuro-Sequential Model of Therapeutics, Trust-Based Relational Intervention, the work of John Gottman, Fr. Chad Ripperger, and is certified in Integrative Team Treatment Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Consultation

Kath enjoys mentoring, using her 29+ years in child welfare and extensive training to provide consultation and mentoring to other therapists on attachment and trauma treatment.

 Did you know

Kath is devoted to spending her time with God and her family.  She and her husband enjoy camping with their dog, attending concerts, gardening, as well as spending time with their two adult children and extended family. 

Her passion leads her to work for children all around the world.  Locally, Kath serves as the director of clinical services for a child welfare agency, providing community training and consultation services on therapy, adoption support, and child-focused services to individuals and agencies located here in Illinois, other states, and other countries.  Kath’s PhD is in International Psychology with a Trauma Focus, which has led her consult internationally, including a special joy in providing clinical consultation for orphanages and schools in Uganda.
