Kevin completed his undergraduate degree at Illinois State University where he studied public health, biology, and psychology. Kevin graduated with honors from the University of Illinois @ Springfield with his M.A. in Community Mental Health Counseling. He has a particular interest in neuroscience, especially how trauma affects the developing brain of children, as well as the brain/body connection. Nothing is ever, "just in your head". A single thought can trigger a physiological cascade within our bodies. From a neuroscience perspective, the social rejection we experience, especially in childhood, is as real as any physical pain we might have experienced. He is certified/trained in a number of evidence-based counseling interventions including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Functional Family Therapy (FFT).  Kevin has a particular interest in trauma, helping kids and adults overcome Adverse Childhood Experiences (A.C.E.’s).

For the past decade, Kevin has been an adjunct instructor in Psychology at Heartland Community College.

In his free time, he’ll be found hanging out with his wife, Kim, their two daughters, two dogs, and his friends from a small group.  One of the axioms of life he lives by is; Mercy triumphs over judgment!
